Despite the many trips abroad in the past two years, I sometimes feel the need to get away from my home in London. Most people probably feel that sometimes it's necessary to 'get away from it all', to go hiding in someplace quiet, peaceful where you will be left alone if that's what you desire. In my case, I've been craving a place that doesn't remind me of being in the business of taking pictures: my home has an office, telephone, internet, computers so inevitably, whenever I'm there, it feels hard not to work.
Luckily, I found a such a place - it is right in the middle of my country of origin, the Czech Republic, and it is a small village far far away from any motorway, airport, big city or industrial complex. The farmhouse I am staying on does not have a telephone, let alone the internet, and I'll be lucky if I manage to install running water and a bathroom sometime soon. In short, it's a rural idyll where it really doesn't matter what you do for a living as long as you can afford a beer with the locals at the end of a long, hard working day. I (almost) forgot to take pictures as I was too preoccupied with demolishing and building walls, levelling floors and making plans on where said bathroom is going to be. But anyway, I just thought I'd share a few of those rural idyll pictures with you here:
