A few weeks ago I documented a Greenpeace protest involving a rather large coal train, and an equally large group of activists determined to stop it outside Cottam power station in Nottinghamshire. The whole thing was a quick process once the train stopped. Teams of three climbed the waggons and proceeded to lighten the train's load by shovelling sacks of coal and throwing them over the side.
Apparently the coal originated in Russia, and CO2 emitters like EDF's Cottam power station aren't going to help reach the UK's climate emissions targets. And so the message was sent loud and clear:
